Cannabis is a genus used in the classification of plants. Cannabis can have up to 3 recognized sub species, C. sativa, C. indica, and C. ruderalis, each with different growth characteristics and each stereotypically having different effects on the body. “Cannabis” encompasses plants grown for different products such as fiber (paper or clothing), seed (food consumption), or cannabinoids (CBD, THC, CBG, etc.). Depending on the product, cannabis will have a different common name such as “marijuana” or “hemp”.
